Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 23, 2026

Ysocial is a social platform built to be useful and calm. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t run ads in your feed.

1. Information you give us

  • Account details — your email address, handle, display name, and optional bio and avatar.
  • Content you create — posts, comments, questions, drafts, media you upload, and your interests/topics.
  • Location (optional) — if you opt in to the Local feed or geo-tagging, we store a grid-coarsened point (roughly 1 km), never your exact coordinates.
  • Solutions requests — when you ask for help, the request details and any photos you attach. Your contact details are shared with a provider only when you choose to unlock them for that specific provider.
  • Payment details — handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store your full card number; we keep records of purchases, credit balances, and payouts.

2. Information we collect automatically

  • Usage & device data — basic analytics about how the app is used (pages, interactions), collected via PostHog.
  • Diagnostics — error and performance data (via Sentry) to keep the service reliable.
  • Cookies — see Cookies below.

3. How we use your information

  • To run the core service — your feed, profile, follows, messages, and notifications.
  • To operate Reason Check and content safety — drafts and posts are screened for civility, high-impact claims, and prohibited content. This processing helps keep the feed useful; paying for premium access never buys a moderation bypass.
  • To power Insider Access, the credit economy, payouts, and Ysocial Solutions matching.
  • To send service notifications and (if you opt in) email digests and web push.
  • To detect abuse, fraud, and illegal content, and to comply with our legal obligations.

4. Who we share it with

We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who process data on our behalf, and only as needed to run Ysocial:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Stripe — payments and creator payouts.
  • Anthropic and OpenAI — automated content moderation (Reason Check and image safety). Content is processed to produce a safety decision.
  • Specialized child-safety services — uploaded images are scanned for known CSAM; confirmed matches are handled under applicable law.
  • PostHog (analytics), Sentry (diagnostics), Resend (email), Inngest (background jobs), and push providers.
  • Other users — your public posts and profile are visible to others; Solutions contact details are shared only with the specific provider you choose.

We may also disclose information to comply with the law, enforce our Terms, or protect the safety of people and the platform.

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and secure (authentication and session). With your consent where required, we use a small number of analytics cookies to understand product usage. We don’t use advertising cookies, and there are no ads in your feed.

6. How we protect your data

Access to your private data is enforced at the database level (row-level security), not just in app code. Private media lives in non-public storage and is served through short-lived signed links. Sensitive operations run only in trusted server contexts.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Access & export — download a copy of your data from Settings → Your data.
  • Correction — edit your profile and content at any time.
  • Deletion — delete your account from Settings; this removes your account and its content.
  • Communication controls — manage notification, email, and push preferences in Settings.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, portability, erasure, objection). Contact us to exercise them.

8. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Specific retention windows will be confirmed at launch.

9. Children

Ysocial isn’t directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don’t knowingly collect their information.

10. Changes & contact

We’ll update this policy as the product evolves and note the date above. Questions about privacy? Contact us at privacy@ysocial.app.
